What a digital odontogram is
The odontogram is the graphical representation of the patient's mouth where the dentist records diagnoses and treatments tooth by tooth. A digital odontogram does the same inside software: every tooth and every surface is marked with professional symbols, and the record is dated in the patient's medical history.
In OCLÜ the digital odontogram has 40 symbols, separates diagnosis from treatment and records by surface, not only by tooth. Every mark is dated in the patient's medical history and visible to everyone on the team who has permission.
What paper cannot do
A paper odontogram gets filed and forgotten: you cannot look it up from another operatory, you cannot compare it against the visit a year ago, and it forces you to re-enter everything you planned into the treatment plan by hand.
The digital odontogram stays on the record, next to the clinical notes, the images and the periodontal chart, and it is there for everyone on the team with permission. You pick a date and see how the mouth looked at that moment, with the list of diagnoses up to that day.
From the odontogram to the treatment plan
The most concrete day-to-day benefit is that planning turns into a treatment plan. In OCLÜ you select what you planned on the odontogram and the system builds the treatment plan with the treatments and their prices, ready for instalments and discounts, ready to send by email or WhatsApp and for the patient to accept through a link.
When the patient accepts, every payment is applied to that plan and the balance updates itself. The odontogram has stopped being a sheet of paper and become the starting point of the whole clinical and administrative circuit.
How to move from paper to digital
You do not have to transcribe the entire archive on day one. The usual approach is to enter each patient's odontogram at their next visit, starting from the current state, and to scan the paper record and upload it to the patient's media so it is at hand.
If the clinic is coming from other software, OCLÜ's assisted migration brings over patients, histories, treatments and media. Either way the rule is the same: from the migration onwards, everything new gets recorded in one place.
