You open the scan and work through it inside OCLÜ. No CD, nothing to install.

Add-on: contracted separately, on top of any plan

The patient's scan or CBCT opens in the browser, inside their record, with an axial view, the arch curve, panoramic, cross-sectional slices, coronal slice, a 3D view and distance and angle measurements. The DICOM viewer is an add-on in the OCLÜ dental software.

What eats your time today in DICOM viewer

The scan on a CD

The study stays on the disc the patient brought, or on the computer where somebody opened it.

A program in every operatory

To see the slices you have to install the imaging centre's viewer on every computer.

The image far from the record

The scan is not next to the patient's photos, intraoral scans and treatment plan.

What DICOM viewer gives you in OCLÜ

The whole study on the record

You upload the .zip or the folder the CBCT machine produces, up to 5 GB. If it is a folder, OCLÜ compresses it before uploading.

Axial view with measurements

You move through the slices with the scroll wheel or the arrow keys, adjust brightness and contrast, zoom, and measure distances and angles.

Arch curve

You mark the curve by clicking on the axial view, or tap Suggest and OCLÜ proposes one you can then move and fine-tune.

Multiplanar view

Axial, panoramic, cross-section and coronal in one grid. You enlarge a view or pair it with another, and on the cross-section you measure distances in millimetres and angles.

Slices to your spacing

You pick a cross-section every 1, 2, 3 or 5 mm and a width of 30, 50, 70 or 100 mm. If the maxilla comes out at the bottom, you flip the orientation with one click.

3D view and PDF report

You look at the volume in 3D in bone, teeth or MIP mode, and download a PDF with the axial, the panoramic and the cross-sections, carrying the patient's and the clinic's name.

How DICOM viewer works, in three steps

  1. You upload the scan

You drag the .zip or the CBCT folder onto the DICOM files card, in the patient's media.

  2. You trace the curve

On the axial view you mark the arch or use the suggested curve, and adjust it until it follows the teeth.

  3. You measure on the slices

In the multiplanar view you work through the panoramic and the cross-sections, measure and, if you need it, download the PDF report.

Frequently asked questions about the DICOM viewer

What is a DICOM viewer?

A DICOM viewer is the program that opens imaging studies in DICOM format, such as dental scans and CBCTs. OCLÜ's runs in the browser, inside the patient record, and rebuilds the panoramic and the cross-sectional slices from the arch curve.

Is the DICOM viewer included in the plans?

It is contracted separately, as an add-on, on top of any OCLÜ plan. Without the add-on, DICOM studies cannot be uploaded or opened; photos, videos and the 3D viewer for STL, PLY and OBJ models stay included.

Is it for planning implants?

No: the DICOM viewer does not place virtual implants or design surgical guides. It is for reviewing the scan, seeing the panoramic and the cross-sections and measuring distances and angles; the implant planning and the guide are done in your planning software.

Can I save what I saw?

Yes, by downloading a PDF report with the axial, the panoramic and the cross-sections. The curve and the measurements are discarded when you close the viewer and do not appear in the PDF.

What do I need to use it?

A computer with a mouse and an up-to-date browser. The study is processed in the browser, with nothing to install; in the OCLÜ app the file appears for download, with no viewer.
