Calculating CAL by hand
Subtracting margin from depth at every site by hand takes time and introduces errors.
You enter the probing and OCLÜ does the arithmetic: depth and margin or CAL at six sites per tooth, bleeding, suppuration, furcation and mobility, with the indices and the periodontal risk calculated. This is the digital periodontal chart in the OCLÜ dental software, and every record is dated on the patient file.
Subtracting margin from depth at every site by hand takes time and introduces errors.
To decide how often to recall the patient for maintenance, you cross-reference bleeding, pockets, bone loss and smoking yourself.
The periodontal chart ends up on a loose sheet, and to see the previous one you have to go looking.
You enter probing depth at mesial, central and distal on the buccal and the palatal or lingual surface. Depths of 5 mm or more are marked in red, and as you go you see the sites with PD of 5 mm or more, the deepest CAL and the percentage of sites that bleed.
With SAP, the default, you enter CAL and the margin is calculated. With SEPA you enter the margin and the CAL is calculated. If you switch criteria, the whole record is recalculated.
You mark bleeding and suppuration at each site, furcation per surface in three grades, and mobility from grade I to III per tooth. Each tooth can be marked as missing, an implant or unrestorable, and implants are probed like a tooth.
The risk assessment (PRA) pulls together bleeding, sites with PD of 5 mm or more, lost teeth, bone loss, smoking and systemic factors, and suggests maintenance every 3, 4 to 5, or 6 months. You measure bone loss on a periapical from the media, marking the cemento-enamel junction, the bone crest and the apex. If the history records smoking or diabetes, they are pre-filled.
Every periodontal chart stays on the patient record with its date and you open any earlier one from the picker. You print it with the clinic's and the patient's details.
With the OCLÜ AI add-on you dictate the measurements, review them and apply them to the chart. It also proposes a diagnosis following the 2018 AAP-EFP consensus, with stage, extent, grade and the status of each implant, for you to validate.
Probing depth and CAL or margin at every site, bleeding and suppuration, furcation per surface and mobility per tooth. Tab moves you tooth by tooth and, with OCLÜ AI, you can dictate.
The margin or the CAL of each site is calculated, the indices update, and the risk assessment suggests how often to recall the patient for maintenance.
The record stays on the patient file. At the next check-up the latest one opens, you update what changed and it is saved as a new one.
A digital periodontal chart is the record of a patient's periodontal status inside dental software: probing depth, gingival margin, clinical attachment level (CAL), bleeding and mobility. OCLÜ's records six sites per tooth, calculates whichever of margin and CAL is missing, and saves every record with its date.
With SEPA, OCLÜ calculates CAL by subtracting the margin from the probing depth at each site. With SAP, the default, you enter CAL and the margin is calculated. Either way you do not do the arithmetic by hand.
Yes. OCLÜ saves every chart with its date and you open them one at a time from the date picker. If you modify an earlier one, it is saved as a new record and the original does not change.
The periodontal chart, the indices, the risk assessment, measuring bone loss on the X-ray and printing all come with OCLÜ without an add-on. Voice dictation and the diagnosis following the AAP-EFP consensus need OCLÜ AI. Dictation fills in depth, CAL or margin, bleeding, suppuration, mobility and missing or implant teeth; furcation and unrestorable teeth are marked by hand.
Yes, with the OCLÜ AI add-on: it proposes the diagnosis following the 2018 AAP-EFP consensus and you validate it. It classifies health, gingivitis or periodontitis with stage, extent and grade, explains what it based that on, flags warnings per tooth and assesses each implant as health, mucositis or peri-implantitis.
